Julie Crane has been an attorney since 1991. After graduating from law school she joined a mid-sized firm where she specialized in labor and employment law. She defended claims of wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, and harassment before state and federal courts and administrative matters before the Office of Civil Rights, the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission and California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing. In addition to litigation, Ms. Crane drafted policies and procedures implementing the Americans with Disabilities Act and the family leave laws and conducted Fair Labor Standards Act audits. In 1997, she became in-house counsel where, in addition to litigation, she handled hearings and arbitrations and provided daily advice to managers concerning ongoing issues. He spent 11 years working for NASA managing projects in the areas of planetary exploration and infrared astronomy. RICHARD SIMONDS spent 21 years in business and industry doing project management, business process improvement (quality), customer satisfaction systems (customer feedback), and product development, documentation, and training. He worked as a manager in many of these positions. He also spent 21 years in education with his latest assignment on the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley. He also had administrative/management responsibilities in these positions.
Richard’s business experience provided him with the opportunity to teach and consult in “Business Planning and Management,” “Quality and Business Process Improvement,” and “Project Management” during his 17 years at Hewlett-Packard. He was also the Executive Producer of award-winning media-based educational programs in the financial services industry. Further, he was the chief designer of a number of programs while at a major national training development company.
In his academic career, Richard taught a variety of courses in “Instructional Technology,” the “Social Sciences,” and “Physical Sciences” during his career as a high school teacher, community college instructor, and university professor.
Richard earned his Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the University of Southern California. His dissertation was on the diffusion of technology innovations in non-technological environments. He used “change management” methodologies in his model. His M.A. was in Sociology; his B.A. was in Sociology with a minor in Physics.
